No sooner does Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) finally take the wraps off its iPad tablet than rumors of a Google Chrome tablet come into focus. As more details of iPad emerge and debates rage about whether Apple will have traction with iPad in enterprises, Apple’s tablet rivals are apparently getting ready to challenge it right away.
Last Wednesday, Apple introduced the long-fabled Apple tablet to the world. Much to nobody’s surprise, it is a 9.7-inch touchscreen slate based on the iPhone OS.
Not surprisingly, now that the iPad has officially launched, we’re starting to see a steady stream of upcoming iPad accessories. Some of the early ones weren’t designed specifically for the iPad but they’re being artfully repurposed for Apple’s new tablet.
The “Apple tablet” is finally official, and it has a name: iPad. Though this super-sized iPod touch is largely what we expected, Apple’s announcement included a number of nice surprises, as well as a couple bombshells.

The clock is winding down to the big reveal on Wednesday at Apple’s major press event. It could be an iSlate, or an iSlab, or an iTablet, or perhaps even an iPod Tablet Edition.
