US Android phones to receive update to 2.1 firmware

The last holdout has fallen — all four major U.S. wireless carriers now offer Android-based phones.
AT&T and Motorola this morning confirmed earlier rumors that the BACKFLIP with MOTOBLUR will be available in online and in AT&T stores across the nation, beginning March 7.

On Saturday, Google posted a message on its Mobile Blog referring ambiguously to a new mobile phone ‘concept’ device that Google’s employees had been given to test. This new device, the blog said, “combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities.”

The Android revolution has begun, and we couldn’t be more excited to see Android phones hitting carriers around the world. But, if you’re getting your wireless service from an iDEN-based carrier, Android isn’t an option.
