Panasonic plasmas : Amazon’s Black Friday HDTV deals

Though only 6 percent of you said in our poll that you plan to shop at Amazon.com for an HDTV on Black Friday, I still thought I should point out the deals that the online retailing giant is offering. Unlike many of the other stores’ Black Friday specials, Amazon has a few Panasonic plasmas on sale—all from the 1080p G10 series, which is THX certified for automatically producing the best image quality regardless of source material and offers VieraCast, Panasonic’s version of connected TV with online services like Amazon Video On Demand.

The 42-inch TC-P42G10 is $916.42, the 46-inch TC-P46G10 is $1,087.99, and the 50-inch TC-P50G10 is $1,123.88; all ship for free. If you do some quick comparison shopping, these may not always be outrageously incredible deals—for instance, you can get a TC-P42G10 for $909.98 with free shipping from OneCall. But Amazon sweetens the deal by offering a free TiVo TCD652160 HD digital video recorder with your purchase through December 5. (Then again, you’ll need to subscribe to TiVo’s service to maximize your use of the “freebie.”)
