Late on Tuesday, Nikon announced seven new compact point and shoot cameras ranging in price from $129.95 to $399.95. None offer features as outlandish as the company’s Nikon COOLPIX 1000pj projector camera, but instead offer fast shooting speeds, high-resolution touch screens and HD video capture.

The COOLPIX S6000 is the fastest of the bunch; it promises to start up in a brisk 0.75 seconds and offer just 0.3 seconds of shutter lag (which is the amount of time it takes for camera to capture an image after you press the shutter release). The S6000 will capture 14.2-megapixel images via a 7X optical zoom, capture HD video at 720p30 resolution, and sell for an estimated price of $249.95 in March.
